Description

This is the Helene Campbell Castle
you are purchasing a print of this image

Still located on South Broadway at the North West corner of Second Street, Tyler based real estate agent Helen Knight Campbell used this centrally located iconic building for many years.  Helene went into the family business of selling houses after her father Walter Herbert Knight passed away in the 1940’s. She was an inspirational Smith County figure owning her own business when many women of Texas were not even working outside the home yet.

This image is part of the Chamber of Commerce Collection of negatives, photos and slides that were donated to the Society many years ago. The Chamber of Commerce started out in Tyler as the “Business Club” in downtown after the turn of the last century and has grown to what it is today, supporting Tyler-Smith County and other East Texas businesses.  This collection covers the time period from the 1930s and continues through the 2000s, covering every subject imaginable.  The collection includes buildings, businesses, schools, area events, homes, Rose Festivals, and many other topics of local history.  Other sizes available as follows:

5 x 7     —  $10.00
11 x 14 —  $30.00
12 x 16 —  $40.00
20 x 24 —  $120.00
20 x 30 —  $150.00

Vintage photos and negatives are rarely perfectly shaped and Smith County Historical Society may find it necessary to crop the image slightly or even add a certain amount of white space to fit standard modern sizes.  Your purchased print will be a clean image (no watermark or object ID).  Custom sizes and applications are available and special prices will apply.
