History of Tyler High School
Prior to 1910, the Tyler High School yearbook was published as a supplement in the school newspaper, The Blue and White. From 1910 to 1958, the yearbooks were titled the Alcalde. The Alcaldes published between 1926 and 1935 included both Tyler High School and Tyler Junior College. In 1936, Tyler Junior College began publishing its own annual, called Apache. In 1958, Tyler High School was renamed John Tyler High School. The yearbook published in 1959, as well as all subsequent editions, continued to bear the name Alcalde.
