Description

This 11″X17″ textured cardstock print was done by  A. C. Gentry, Jr., as the cover of our Volume 10 Number 1 Chronicle publication in 1971.  Showing the downtown Tyler Cotton Belt Depot looking east along East Oakwood Street, from the corner of North Spring Street.  The buildings at the right are no longer standing, the corner structure in the foreground was the St. Charles Hotel.  This area of town was once called “the Levee”, several restaurants and rooming houses were in the area as well as house of ill repute.
