Name of Creator: Stewart, Katie
Administrative / Biographical history: Katie Albert Stewart was born December 27, 1901 in Helena, Arkansas and passed in Tyler, Texas
February 17, 2006 at the age of 104. She was never married and was the only child of Albert T. Stewart and Garthelia Willis Harris
Stewart.

Brought in by Ron Clark (donor) in black garbage bags
Sherry Kidd (archives manager) took in collection
Romola Clark (archive volunteer) assisted in organizing materials
Melanie Leath (museum volunteer) entered accession in Past Perfect
Tiffany Wright (archive manager) split up boxes and started process of transcriptions of hand written letters
Vicki Betts (volunteer) helped to transcribe some of the earliest letters to and from A. T. and Katie, regarding school activities and
allowance.
Carol Kehl (volunteer writer) used the collection for an article in the Chronicles publication on the Utopia Club
TAAM (Clarence Shackleford) purchased copies of many documents from the collection to have as an onsite archive for the museum
Custodial history: from Sherry Kidd’s handwritten note on finding aid page in collections binder P-Z ” Received Sept. , 2011
Contents found in a rental storage locker that was auctioned off due to non-payment of rent owed. Items were donated by
concerned citizen who noticed very old dates on some of the letters ShK
After cleaning and organizing it fills 2 bankers bxes and is in research room on main floor”
In late 2024, grey archival flip top boxes were ordered and it was divided into 6, this made the collection more managable
for staff to handle when providing it to researchers to view. TSW
