Burnette Cecil Pierce married Artie Hazel Guest, daughter of David Morgan Guest and wife Annie McCullough Harrison Guest, on August 27, 1920, in Daingerfield, Morris County, Texas.[3]
In the 1930 Titus County Texas federal population census B. C. Price age 36 is shown as school teacher for a public school. His wife Hazel Price, age 33, is also listed.[4] In the 1940 Titus County, Texas federal population census B. C. Pierce age 45 is shown as school teacher for a public school. His wife Hazel Pierce, age 42, is also listed.[5]
In the 1962 yearbook for East Texas Baptist University of Marshall, Texas, B. C. Pierce is shown as part of the administration. He listed that he holds a B.A. from North Texas State College and a M.A. from the University of Colorado.[6]
In a google search, a book by Edward A. Blackburn called Wanted: Historic County Jails of Texas shows a bibliography that lists a reference of a Master’s thesis from University of Colorado by Burnett Cecil Pierce written in 1932 on the subject “Titus County, Texas: Its Background and History in Ante-Bellum Days.”[7]
Artie Hazel Guest Pierce died 16 December 1973, in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas. Burnett Cecil Pierce died 10 February 1977 at Marshall, Harrison County, Texas. Both are buried at Hughes Springs Cemetery in Cass County, Texas.[8]
